Ceramic capacitors are typically used in applications where a small amount of capacitance is required, such as in the timing circuits of appliances. They are made up of a ceramic material that acts as the dielectric material. Unlike electrolytic capacitors, ceramic capacitors are not polarized and can be connected to the circuit in either direction.

By using capacitors in these circuits, the length of time can be accurately controlled, ensuring that the appliance performs its functions correctly and efficiently.
